I called Mr. Machado at the end of January, 2021. My crash happened early 2019 and I hadnt received any treatment for my injuries, but I was still hurt and it wasnt going away. He was gracious enough to take my case and when the statute of limitations came to file a lawsuit, he was again kind enough to do it while he investigated thoroughly who and what was involved. The world closed to Covid, but Mr. Machado kept my hopes alive. He kept my case alive when the insurance company said I should be happy with $2,000. I was the second car in a multicar crash. He litigated the case for two long years. Many hostile depositions. Countless pages of questionning. At the end, he settled my case for full policy limits and put half a million dollars in my pocket. I feel better again. Ill never forget you, Mr. Machado!

I hired Barrios & Machado after a truck grazed me on the freeway. The truck driver denied fault, said I caused the accident. His insurance company strongly agreed, denying my claim. After spending lots of time fighting them and helping me get treatment for my aches and pains, Guillermo Machado referred my case to one of his friends for a fresh approach. After another long while and a considerable investment of resources, they settled my case in my favor. Guillermo even agreed to donate his portion of attorney fees to me so I would pocket more. I was working for a dog-walking company in early 2021. One of the dogs I was walking showed signs of aggression and eventually bit my hand, injuring my fingers and hand. I was T-boned by a terrible driver. She drove a Lexus so I expected her to have enough insurance to cover our losses. Thankfully we did not suffer as much harm as we might have had God not been protecting us. She barely had a 15/30 policy but she totalled our car. I hired Barrios & Machado because Ursula Barrios is a long time family friend and her cousin recommended I call them immediately. I spoke to both Ursula and Guillermo about my accident and hired them. Like me, they were hopeful the Lexus had a big policy. Unfortunately we didn’t carry enough underinsured driver coverage. We changed that after Guillermo told me we should. Within a week of hiring them, they recovered $20,000 for our car and we bought a good replacement. Within a couple of months, they settled the case for insurance limits and explained to me the risks of denying the settlement and suing the driver instead. I decided to take the settlement. Thank God I wasn’t that hurt and will be just fine. They reduced my medical bills so I could pocket close to half of the settlement. I had two terrible experiences with injury attorneys over the years. For a badly injured back, my former attorney was barely able to get me a few hundred dollars on a case that remains open. For an injured shoulder that required surgery, another former attorney was only able to get me a few thousand. When I hired Barrios & Machado for my recent minor car accident my good opinion of lawyers was again restored. The other driver had zero insurance to cover my accident. Thankfully, I had solid UIM protection, but without Barrios & Machado, my own carrier was only willing to pay me very little to nothing. The Machado attorney law firm have two incredibly gifted attorneys who helped my 89 yr old mom with two terrible issues involving hospital facilities and patient care.First claim involved the Westlake Healthcare Facility where mom was being rehabilitated and cared for, but the circumstances with medical insurance and the Long term care resulted in boarding costs which Westlake claimed were unpaid. Guillermo and Ursula were able to settle the Long term care claim without mom losing her home or the family filing for bankruptcy. Thank you Guillermo and Ursula.Second claim involved the Kindred Hospital staff in Paramount, Ca. where mom was allegedly physically assaulted by a hospital employee. First off, I was very stressed out after someone hit me. Luckily, I had spoken to Mr. Machado a few years ago and he told me what to do if I ever get into an accident. And I did exactly what he said. Property damage was minimal because I drive an SUV and was hit by small car, but they helped me get compensated in full for my SUV. I was attacked by a dog March of 2020, just as the pandemic was starting. I didnt know what to do. My hand and wrist was bitten and I didnt know just how bad. On June 12, 2021 around midnight, I was driving home with my 5 year old son when a car T-boned us as it was exiting a gas station near Victorville. He attempted to hit and run but the police tracked him down quickly. I was mentally shaken and worried about my son’s health and the pains I immediately felt around my shoulder. As a single mom, how was I going to get around without my car which was totaled? A dear friend of mine, Aztry Kelly, strongly recommended Barrios & Machado. She and her husband Willie said they had used their services several times throughout the years and that when it came to honest lawyers that worked hard to get the best result, I would find no one better. I called and spoke to Guillermo Machado a couple of times since I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do and had never dealt with insurance companies and car accidents before. He took his time and answered all my questions with compassion and skill. He also explained to me that since the man that hit us tried to flee the scene there was a chance he was also uninsured (and what we could then do in that case to file a successful claim). Mr. Machado’s mother is a friend of mine. When I told her I was in a multicar wreck, she told me to call her son. Mr. Machado took his time to explain what he could do and what I could expect. This is very difficult to write but I do it so that others may know what kind of lawyers are found at Barrios & Machado. My daughter was struck and killed by a car while using a call box on the 15 freeway a few years back. It was the most difficult thing a father ever had to deal with in all his life (and Im sure I will be dealing with it for the rest of my life). I reached out to Ursula Barrios the morning I learned of my daughters passing and the first thing she and her husband, Guillermo, did was pray with us. Then Guillermo said with a heavy heart that he would attempt to legally hold those responsible for my daughters death. Within a short time, we learned that those responsible would not be charged with a crime and that they had very little to offer as far as wrongful death compensation (they barely had minimum policies). Within a few months after, we would also learn that many other parties would seek to take financial advantage of my daughters death.This made me sick to my stomach, but Guillermo pressed forward. One year later, he was able to settle the case against 2 insurance companies and 5 competing law firms. I walked out with as much money as was available to help pay back funeral costs and a small sense of closure to this matter. All the millions on earth would not bring my daughter back but I was comforted in the end (and throughout) that Guillermo was a brother in Christ and that we both knew where my daughter was, in peace, with the Lord, that we would all meet again soon.
