Tobener Ravenscroft is a top-notch, professional tenant law firm. During the pandemic our landlord moved in tenants who operated multiple illegal businesses in their apartment. I had never experienced living next to this type of activity. We discovered their social media was used primarily for advertising to host parties, provide female escort services, gambling/entertainment and other operations that could generate money in their apartment. Without getting into all the details, I can say we felt extremely unsafe and disturbed by these activities. Law enforcement could only do so much, ultimately it came down to our landlord who continued to look the other way and let us suffer living next to this insanity.We reached out to city officials, law enforcement and other law firms to seek advice on how to proceed with our landlord and nuisance neighbors and Ravenscroft was there to help right from the get go. Jim Lucey is a very professional and knowledgeable lawyer who stuck by our side through the whole process. He had great communication and was fighting for us beginning to end. Tobener Ravenscroft law firm is the real deal. Like many others, my roommate and I were faced with a case of wrongful eviction. We were anxious about our recourse and unsure of how to proceed. They assessed our situation and came to an agreement that we had been wronged and had a valid reason to file. They made it assuredly clear we would NOT have to pay for anything out of pocket, and that the firm would only take a percentage fee if we were awarded recompense from the opposing party.Throughout the course of the suit, I had the absolute pleasure of working with Julia Wobbe and Tiffany Moyes. When I first contacted this office I felt they were very responsive, they follow through etc…Of course they did because they saw the possibility of making money.The issue happened during mediation. I felt bullied into accepting a settlement by my own attorney Toberner. I felt abandoned by the attorney. He even yelled at me for not following his legal advise and telling me to settle. I felt he wanted a quick payday and didn’t want to risk losing in trial because he would get zero money if we did.In my heart I felt we had a good case. My kids and I suffered greatly for 5 years due to our slum lord. I would not recommend this guy. Seeing how little he cared about us that day was an eye opener.

I rang their office to inquire about my legal rights in a tricky situation that arose under a verbal lease agreement with my landlord. I first spoke with the two of them when I was in an uncomfortable situation in life, hurting both physically and emotionally after being forced out of my home. I was a protected tenant in a rent controlled flat given a 3-month temporary eviction for Capital Improvements. I was almost 70 and needed a lawyer to assure that I would return after the violations were fixed. The construction dragged on past the due date with no end in sight. Tobener Ravenscroft only represents tenants. I set up a meeting with Joseph and Jacqueline. Joseph looks about 25-years old, but he’s magnificent and very caring. After returning home from spending Christmas holidays 2018 away from home, there was a 60 days move out notice on the front door.It was frustrating and stressful all at once. All I can say is WOW! I did not expect such stellar service from these people who I came to find out are WONDERFUL! In my occasional dealings with attorneys in the past, I have usually felt rushed or not important enough in their eyes to be fully heard, unless I paid thousands of dollars in retaining fees. Such was absolutely not the case with Tobener Ravenscroft, and specifically attorney, Tina Collins.I contacted them because I was being harrassed by my apartment manager at a brand new apartment complex I just moved into 3 weeks ago in Oakland. They have been harassing me mercilessly because my two sons have been visiting me almost every day (not staying overnight) because they are essentially my caretakers. I have severe arthritis and I am dependent on them for many things to get through the day. Sometimes Im fine but other times Im quite disabled. The apartment managers watch the cameras like a hawk and every time they see my sons entering the building with the fob or by calling me on the intercom, they harass them and tell them they cannot use the key fob and and that they are coming here too often. They also call me day and night and tell me this over and over, and accuse them of staying the night..which is absolutely not true.This seemed wrong to me in every way. Forced to be put on the lease for visiting their mother to help with activities of daily living she cant? Ridiculous! I can see this being an issue if they stayed the night frequently and stayed for hours on end, but they dont. They come over for a few hours, help with what I need, maybe return later to help with more things, and then leave. Some days they dont come over at all.Anyway, I finally got fed up with the endless harassment and felt I needed some answers and possibly some leverage, as the management was beginning to insinuate they would evict me if my sons were not put on the lease.I had my doubts that an attorney would help me without charging an expensive retaining fee, but this companys website seemed so friendly and I loved how they really seemed caring in the verbiage they used on their website, and also how adamant they were about how passionate their lawyers are in defending tenants rights. After nearly 3 years at my apartment in Oakland my property manager decided to enforce breed restrictions, giving us 3 days to get rid of my dog or face eviction, despite having my dog as a registered ESA, and having no incidents or complaints about my dog on the premises. Honest also not giving false hope told me what could happen almost did.Prayers had to of been answered this was an experience I will never forget.
